I haven't kept up on any of the political candidates thus far, since the few soundbites I've heard (and years of political awareness in the past) make me think they all suck.  But it's starting to get to the point where I should care, so I took this silly quiz to give me a starting point.  These are the political candidates some website thinks I'm most like.  I'll use it to actually research some of these names and see if it's true and I'm archving them here so I will have that list for my research later, but anyone reading this, keep in mind that these are not *my* picks ... yet.

99% Mike Gravel and 98% Dennis Kucinich. Not a huge surprise.

All the Republicans scare me. Mitt Romney is a religious nutjob, Mike Huckabee thinks the Earth is 6,000 years old, and Giuliani is evil slime.

My first and very cursory glance at Mike Gravel and Bill Richardson seem to show them to be very similar and I agree so far with their platforms. Why is it, do you think, I am matched only with a 74% to Bill Richardson and Mike Gravel is way down on my list with 67%? How are those two candidates so different from each other that they would have that large of a gap in my list?

Of course, I realize it sounds like I'm asking you to tell me why *I* would or would not like them, and that's not what I'm asking. But if you (or anyone else) can tell me how these candidates differ that might explain why there is a gap in my approval scores, that would be helpful.

And yes, all the republicans scare me. I was watching Penn & Teller the other day, and one of the opposers to ID made this point: Sometimes the ID people claim that God only made the earth *look* millions of years old, but the Bible shows how it's clearly only 6,000 years. The opposer said "If God went to so much trouble to make it look that old, why don't you pretend it's that old?" I laughed. Then I remembered that these fuckers are running our government.

Without knowing your politics in detail, I'd guess it's due to the death penalty or Iraq troop withdrawal.

Strange, it says here he is against same-sex marriage, but I got the impression somewhere else that he was for it. Anyway, just reading that chart makes me lean towards Gravel, but he's "unknown" on the two gun control issues and that kinda bothers me. He's also unknown on minimum wage increases.

Funny: I got 100% Kucinich, 98% Gravel, and again it's no big surprise. It's a bit surprising that there is no big surprise, though. I wouldn't have thought I'd done my research quite that well.

Unfortunately, I disagree with the No Child Left Behind and the ban on assault weapons, but everything else checks out. Wonder why he scored so low on mine?
