*rolls eyes* Yeah, that's pretty bad. I got an OkC form message recently. It was actually mostly pretty well-written, but it was clearly a form message because it so blatantly didn't fit my profile. It starts out by complimenting my profile, but then asks if I've found my lover, when I state in my profile that I'm in a relationship (plus am marked as seeing someone). All 0% match scores, and talks about wanting to find that one special woman and marrying and being faithful to her, and while I'm not out as poly on OkCupid, I am out as involved already, so I'm either poly and thus that's very monogamistic language or I'm monogamous, and why am I being messaged?

Nicely done form message though. It might not be obvious it was a form message for most people. And some work was put into it. If the person weren't all 0%es, I might actually think it was more or less reasonable.

But it didn't mention my username or anything at all specific to me at all, which strikes me as really lazy if it's a legit attempt at finding someone and possibly just an attempt to fish for email addies for spam.

Yeah, I get those a lot. I actually do start out nice by responding that perhaps they'd like to read my profile more fully before continuing to contact me. Since I repost these correspondences, I feel it's only fair that I give them a warning, and since they clearly didn't read my profile, they are not properly informed. Once I warn them, though, if they persist without reading, it's really their own fault ... as the judge says "ignorance is not an excuse to break the law".
