It's time for another installment of Poly Jewelry - a post about where to buy jewelry to make a poly statement. This is mostly generic jewelry that has the right themes that we can "steal" them and use them to make a poly statement, with a couple of pieces of jewelry that was created *as* poly jewelry. Poly jewelry is usually a very subtle way of making a poly statement, so that, if you wanted, you could be "discreet", only declaring your poly statement to those "in the know" while just wearing something pretty or striking that non-polys won't know has any particular meaning behind it.
So with that, let's get to the jewelry...
I found this necklace & matching earrings in a tourist gift shop in Portland, OR, and I loved it so much that
datan0de bought the set for me. They were available in this purple "lab created charoite" and two other blue stones that I couldn't remember. I tried to Google the stone to see if I could find out the name of the other stones, and I found a website called Wheeler's Fine Jewelry that sells all three variations plus a few others. I really liked the blue paua shell and I liked the lab-created blue opal even more, but I don't have any outfits that match those stones, so I went with the purple.
This store also sells this same design in lab-created standard opal, goldstone, hemitite, and turquoise, although not every stone has both the pendant and the earrings. www.wheelerjewelryoutlet.com/viewcategory.php?groupid=1
Price ranges from $14 - $20 depending on which stone you get and whether you get the pendant or the earrings.
I found these earrings in one of those little stores for tourists found on one of those roads that has nothing but shops for tourists in touristy locations. In this case, we were somewhere on the Oregon coast, but since I wasn't driving, I don't know anything more than that. I had been searching for a plain silver set of poly earrings for a while, because, although I love my infinity-heart earrings from Abzu Emporium, they came with a little purple wire wrap on the hook, so I can't wear them with anything but purple outfits (of which I have 2, maybe 3). I wanted something with a broader range. So along comes these little heart earrings that wrap up like pretzels and into an infinity symbol.
I did a Google search for these too, but couldn't find them anywhere. Then I went back to the Wheeler's site to double-check the pricing for the above entry and noticed a pull-down tab that took me to another "store" under their umbrella that sold silver. On a hunch, since all the tourist shops I went through in Oregon (including this one) sold the same purple design above, I browsed through, and, sure enough, I found these earrings there! Not much else there is poly-themed, unless you count the earrings that have 3 hearts in a vertical row. www.wheelerjewelryoutlet.com/viewitem.php?productid=2467
Price $25
Then I decided to browse around and see what else this store had to offer. Interestingly, I found a section of rings that were the same rings I was eyeing at the Denver airport giftshop! Those rings had nothing to do with polyamory, I just thought they were pretty. But I kept scrolling and I found this heart ring that turns the band itself into an infinity symbol weaving through the open heart. www.wheelerjewelryoutlet.com/viewitem.php?productid=1760
It's sterling silver and labeled as a "mostly unisex ring", whatever that means. Whatever, I like it, so I'm sharing it. They have a couple of other rings that could be worn as poly rings, like an open heart with a Celtic knot inside and a ring with a gemstone heart with a tiny silver open heart on each side (for triads or Vees), where the gemstone is offered in lab-created blue opal, standard opal, a "black jet" stone, turquoise, blue paua shell, and pink paua shell, or the open hearts are either right-side up or sideways to the center stone heart, but I think that's stretching the category a bit, so I'm not going to show a picture of every single variation on the 3 hearts or a heart with Celtic knots at this store. You can find them on the website http://www.wheelerjewelryoutlet.com/viewcategory.php?groupid=10.
Price $25 in sizes 4-10.
While searching for the jewelry I had bought in Oregon so I could post about it, I came across some other poly-ish jewelry. That prompted me to make this journal entry for more poly jewelry. One of the items I found was this. About halfway down the page are these little blue glass heart earrings with an infinity under the heart. At the moment, this website is being "reorganized", so they are requesting that you email them with item numbers and names, and they will send you an invoice for payment, even though there is a PayPal button right next to the earring picture.
You can get these earrings at http://jkrdesigns.com/all_coordinating_sets/coordinating_sets_6. These are probably the most inexpensive earrings I've ever seen not at a garage sale or second-hand store. Price is only $1.88
For a variation on the infinity-heart design, there are quite a few jewelers doing infinity symbols AS hearts, which could make things convenient for the poly community, if you're willing to wear a symbol that you use for polyamory but the rest of the world uses just because. The specific infinity-heart design doesn't seem to be in use by anyone but polys, and the two hearts with vertical infinities that I found in Oregon were designs I had never seen elsewhere. But the hearts-as-infinity symbol I have seen before. So it's either a really confusing symbol, or the ultimate in discretion!
This one was found at a wholesaler, which usually means the prices are low but you have to buy in bulk. They do allow sales of 1-2, though, for still a very reasonable price, considering it's a Tiffany-brand necklace. This website had a couple of pendants involving 3 interlinked hearts that could be worn for triads or Vees. Scroll through the horizontal thumbnails above the item description to see other jewelry, but other than the 2 or 3 trio-heart pendants, there isn't anything else poly there. http://www.allinonesilver.com/make-your-own-silver-heart-infinity-necklace_p2003.html
Price for 1-2 $7.25 and goes down if you buy more.
For another version of the hearts-as-infinity pendants, this Etsy store has a pretty one with a row of cubic zirconia stones lining one leg of the infinity. Again, this isn't a poly store and it's not a poly-specific symbol, so it could be bad that no one else will recognize it as poly and non-polys will be wearing it, or it could be good that people won't recognize it as a poly symbol and you can get away with wearing one even if you're not out, as well as being a design that's fairly easy to find.
There is nothing else poly-ish in this store, except for another of those dubious 3-heart pendants. These are usually "sister" pendants, often done with one heart each in silver, gold, and copper, but they could work for triads or vees.
Price for the infinity-as-hearts $30.
If you do a search on Etsy for "silver infinity heart", you'll get a ton of those heart-as-infinity necklaces. I'm not going to post a picture to each one, but I will post the search results and you can scroll through them yourself. Intermixed among the hearts-as-infinities are other random items, like bracelets with just an infinity symbol but no hearts or rings with hearts but no infinities and such. http://www.etsy.com/search?includes%5B%5D=materials&q=silver+infinity+heart
But some of the other item caught my attention. Like these fake-gauge earrings in the hearts-as-infinity design. This particular store seems to specialize in fake-gauge earrings - earrings designed to look like gauged earrings but that are actually on standard posts to people with regular ear piercings can wear them. They are made from a Japanese polymer clay and are supposed to be very lightweight. There are more pictures on the site that show the earrings from different angles & not on a person, so you can see the hearts-as-infinity design more clearly.

Price $19
This was an unusual version of a heart & infinity symbol. The heart itself turns into an infinity symbol and then into the ring itself as all one twisty piece of metal. I'm not quite sure what to make of this ring, but it's interesting & unusual, so I thought some people might like to see it.
The description says it's a girl's ring, but I dunno, I can see this on a male finger too. This store sells a lot of Buddhist designs, like the om symbol & such, plus a heart/pentagram design. There are a few other twisty knot designs and three-heart designs that might appeal to some people as poly jewelry. Plus there was this interesting ring that had a dangling heart-shaped stone on a band with "infinity" markings that I thought was kind of neat. That stone comes in emerald, ruby, or sapphire. This store ships from Malaysia.

Price for the twisty infinity-heart is $22 and for the dangly heart is $25
I found this one on a website called Polyvore. You'll notice I didn't link to it. That's because this website has suckered me more than once. The name is misleading - it's not a polyamory site, and it collects thousands upon thousands of things for sale. None of them are for sale at Polyvore, they just link to where you can buy it from the actual seller. Every once in a while, when I do a Google search, it finds a poly something-or-other that Polyvore is linking to, and that's how I found this pendant.
The actual seller is Monkey Jewels and from what I can tell, they're not a poly store either. But they do custom stone & glass sandblasting-engraving. I didn't see much else that was particularly poly-ish, and I did see a bunch of sex/love/marriage-negative "humor" designs, like a bride & groom with the words "game over" on champagne glasses.
But you might want to browse through to get an idea of the kinds of things they can engrave and on what kinds of things they engrave, and maybe you might want to order something custom-made for you. Their "Family Love Nest" product could work - a faux bird's nest with egg-shaped stones engraved with people's names could be poly-ish, or maybe a set of glasses with a poly symbol or family name(s)? They sell "oath stones", which those into rituals might want to get engraved with their poly commitment vows or something.
Price for the stone heart with infinity engraving is $32.
This guy hand-made this ring and was pleased enough with the result that he is offering to take commissions for more of them. He doesn't have a store that I'm aware of, just says to contact him through Deviant Art to work out a deal. He is not based in the US and the price is in Euros, so you'll have to convert and add international shipping if you want this ring.
But it's one of my favorites because of its simplicity. He also said he might consider taking commissions for this ring in different metals.
Price 100€ plus any possible shipping etc. costs
This ring is a little closer to the classic poly-specific infinity-heart, with a heart made of a row of cubic zirconias with a heart-as-infinity woven through it.I saw this same ring for sale elsewhere for $119, but Amazon has it for much cheaper. And, of course, if you scroll down to the "Customers Who Viewed This Also Viewed..." thumbnail bar, you'll see a few other sellers who are selling the same ring, or similar, along with a variety of hearts-as-infinity rings and three-interlocked-hearts rings. One of the similar rings is $99 but it seems to be made with a carat's worth of real diamonds. Maybe the $119 one was also real diamonds, I didn't check before I closed the tab after seeing this much more affordable version on Amazon.
I know some people prefer real diamonds, but personally, I'm afraid to wear really expensive jewelry when there are good-looking copies available and the only people who could tell the difference are people I'm not "privileged" to associate with. The last thing I want to do is wear a piece of jewelry that I have to make payments on somewhere where it might get stolen or damaged. But I suppose if you have the money or it's a wedding ring or something, you might want the one with real jewels.
Price on Amazon $24.99
This is another design I hadn't seen before and isn't poly-specific but still uses both the heart & infinity elements in a unique way. This combines the heart & infinity into a single symbol, twisting the bottom of the heart into half of the infinity. This design will have the same issue as the hearts-as-infinity - either good because it's not poly-specific so it can be a poly symbol incognito and can be found places besides poly stores, or bad because non-polys will also be wearing it & not everyone will recognize it as a poly symbol.
This site offers this design in a large pendant, a small pendant, a pair of small earrings, and a "sparkle" pendant (it has a textured surface that reflects the light so that it "sparkles".
Price starting at $75 for the small pendant.
Don't forget the usual stores that specialize in poly-specific jewelry:
Poly Tees now has a non-apparel section with earrings, pendants, buttons, etc. www.polytees.com
Abzu Emporium is the original infinity-heart jeweler and still sells them. www.abzuemporium.com
Poly Charms is becoming the most well-known poly jeweler online. http://www.polycharms.com/

So with that, let's get to the jewelry...
