A local Wisconsin Public Access station did a short piece on the world of Rigging and Entertainment, and they included a video of what it's like backstage and above stage. I am not in any of the footage, nor am I connected to the show, but it does give a glimpse of what my life is like.

I do rigging work only occasionally, but lighting work often takes me in the air, and because of my rigging experience, I am one of the most often-requested electricians to go in the air where I haul up lighting instruments (as opposed to motors, which is what the riggers in the video are doing), and I secure and focus the lights for the show. This piece features an arena show. I do arena stagehand/electrics/video work, but not arena rigging. My rigging takes place in the convention center with 45 and 60 foot-high beams and in ballrooms with 30-45 foot ceilings and electric lifts. The scenes with the riggers walking on the narrow beams is exactly what I do in the convention center, only I'm 45 feet up instead of 70 feet.

I do have pictures from backstage and even a short video clip of me climbing around truss about 50 feet or so in the air  in an arena for focus on my website at http://www.theinnbetween.net/imagery.html#gigs, but this video is nicely put-together and sometimes a still image just doesn't quite capture the moment the way video does.
