Actually, an acquaintance of mine did say it herself when she was pregnant: that, yes, pregnancy made her much more stupid. She's a grad student, though :-)

She was really bothered by the perceived decline of her mental abilities "I just can't concentrate on anything beside the baby! It's sucking out my brains!" I haven't seen her in a while, but hope that things are back to normal now...

Well, we do know that the hormonal changes during pregnancy create a "pair-bond", so why wouldn't it also affect one's ability to "concentrate on anything besides the baby!"?

Plus, you're growing a whole other human being inside you! How could anyone NOT be distracted by that? :-)
