OK, so there was some language barrier here, but even if a person has difficulty with a particular language, in their own language, is it really the approved method of contact to approach someone with "hi" and absolutely nothing to talk about?

I can only surmise that I have some cosmic Loser Magnent. I'm as blatently unpleasant as I can be, and yet I continue to be approached by online losers, christian fundie converters, anti-poly relationshipists, and even "I'm not secure enough to do poly but I'm going to pretend I am all for the sake of getting you into bed, then when I fall in love with you I'll passive-aggressively undermind your other relationships until you realize I'm THE ONE", who all feel the need to impress their (clearly WRONG that I can back up with evidence) ideas onto me. I don't go out and actively try to convert anyone to poly, athiesm, or even netiquette, yet everyone seems to think that *I* need to hear *their* ideas. To hear my opinions, you have to intentionally come to me.

At least I can amuse people with my encounters :-D

I think a lot of guys go for the Boomhauer (from King of the Hill) method. They hit on EVERY girl, and eventually one says yes. It's a quantity thing. If you ask enough people out, one is bound to say yes.

It's definitely annoying.

Y'know, I could understand that method in some things. But in an online setting, you can weed out those girls who you *know* will say "no" and increase your probability of scoring ... with very little effort since it's the nature of the medium to basically put out advertising signs (our profiles) that people can read before ever approaching us.

I mean, if what you want is a quick fuck, that's fine ... there are girls out there for that. You'll get laid that much faster if you go pursue them and leave me alone. Otherwise, you spend all your time arguing with me and not getting laid!

that wasn't a chat room, that was OKC's IM service that pops up uninvited. I could turn it off, but I sometimes forget and the message windows pop up right when I log on. I choose not to ignore them because sometimes they're not assholes and when they are, I want to help spread the word that this approach is not acceptable, so as to hopefully prevent others from going through this.

As for not using the dating sites, first of all, that's not fair for *me* to have to avoid them, especially since this particular site has been responsible for 3 of my most recent relationships and I'm very happy about that. I also originally signed up for OKC to use their tests, not to meet people, and I'm not on any other dating site because I'm not specifically looking for new partners. Plus, my profile is antagonistic enough to keep people away ... if they read it first.
