joreth: (Kitty Eyes)
Uh, so a couple of hours ago, my user pic "kitty eyes" was a picture of cat eyes.

A moment ago, I noticed this image of a woman with the word "hotsexymama" was on all entries that previously had my kitty eyes pic.

I went to the manage user pic section and, sure enough, this image is there with the keyword "kitty eyes", just as if I had put it there.

WTF?  Should I just delete it and replace it with my real pic?  Should I notify LJ?

*UPDATE*
According to the timestamp, at 11:38 AM, femetal saw the hotsexymama picture, but roughly half an hour later, datan0de saw the correct image.  I logged on at 12:36 PM and also saw the correct image.

So I went to report this to LJ anyway, and right there on their main support page was this:

LiveJournal developers are aware that some users have been reporting problems with incorrect userpics displaying. If you are having any problems with the userpics displaying incorrectly, please clear your browser's cache. If this does not resolve the problem, please open a support request containing links to all the affected userpics. Please be assured that your userpics have not physically been replaced, nor does it mean that anyone has accessed your account.

I clicked on the "open a support request" to tell them that it could not be a cache problem if other people on other computers in other locations were seeing the exact same image in all the same places.  It *can't* be a local problem to my cache folders if it's happening in other places.  And since I've never had that picture in any form, nor have I ever seen that picture in someone else's journal, it also can't be some wierd thing where my computer is taking things out of my temporary or history or cache folders, because it doesn't exist in them.  This picture came from outside of my computer somewhere and affected, not my computer, but LJ in some manner.

Everything looks normal to me. You might have a weird browser caching issue, which can usually be fixed by holding Shift and clicking Reload.

just for the record - everything does not look normal to me. I see a picture that says "hotsexymama"

I've seen this happen to other friends' pages at odd intervals, and I don't think it's necessarily a caching issue for that reason. It's annoying to be sure, but deleting and reloading the offending avatar seems to fix it.

I'd sure enjoy a definitive explanation for these hijackings...

I see the hotsexymama pic as well.

I think you should report the problem to LJ, because either someone has somehow hijacked your account, hacked LJ's system, or there is a bug in their system somewhere. In any of the above cases, they should be alerted to the problem, particularly if you can be held accountable for the contents of your userpics.

Weird. I'm seeing the normal cat eyes icon.
