Oh, and for those who are unaware, Procrustes used to invite travelers into his home for the night and offer them the use of his bed, but if they were too tall for the bed, he cut their feet off until they fit and if they were too short, he stretched them until they fit. The bed length was actually adjustable and he would estimate a guests' height ahead of time and change the size of the bed so that no guest could ever fill it properly. He continued this until King Theseus caught him and tied him to his own bed (set on the short setting) and chopped his feet and head off. Now, the term "Procrustean bed" is used for an arbitrary standard to which exact conformity is forced.
Quite accurate, really, for an analogy of those couples.
