joreth: (Bad Computer!)

OK, it's behind a cut so those of you who don't have the time or don't want to take the time to read it from your friend's list don't have to.

I wrote a while back to complain about an annoying ad. I was told to take a screen capture of it and send it in so you could identify the ad. At the time, I was getting this ad every other page load, every day. The day I received the response to take a screen capture, I did not see the ad at all, and at least a week has passed without seeing the ad. So I deleted the email with instructions to send a screen capture because I thought the ad had been pulled.

Today, the ad came back.

This is a banner ad for Consumer Savings Center that features a buzzing bee. There is no volume control and the audio plays automatically and there is no way to shut it off. The buzzing is extremely irritating. Can't you PLEASE do something about this sound? I have the screen capture saved now if you need it.

I understand the necessity for ads on free accounts, I have no problems with your advertising polices ... this is a complaint about ONE SPECIFIC AD.

Dear Member,

Thank you for contacting us.

> I wrote a while back to complain about an annoying ad

Including advertisements on our site allows us to provide you with your e-mail address at no cost to you. We hope to provide you with offers you will find valuable, however, we realize that may not always be possible.

When viewing advertisements appearing on our site, you are under no obligation to take any action. If the advertisement you are viewing is not of interest to you, simply ignore that advertisement. We hope the next one will be more appealing to you. If the advertisement is in the form of a pop-up, you can close the small window by clicking the "x" in the upper right corner, just as you would close any other window.

Please note that we have launched an ads-free service for our members. For a very low price, you may purchase the ads-free services from us and this will eliminate all ads from our systems. For full details and pricing, please see our Premium Services section.

Please send us the screenshot on the page with the ads in question.

Taking a screen capture is quite easy.

For Windows user:
1) Bring up the screen that you wish to take a capture of.
2) Hit the "Print screen" button on your keyboard. This is normally found near the insert/delete key. Doing this will put the picture in your clipboard.
3) Launch the favorite editor of your choice (e.g.: microsoft word).
4) use the "Paste" function to place the picture from the clipboard to the application.
5) Save all the pictures.

For MAC user:
Please press [Apple]+[Shift]+[3] on your keyboard and the screencapture file will be saved on your desktop or HD automatically.

After that, just send the screen captures to us by attaching them to an email and we will look into them for you and try to resolve your difficulties.

Regards,
Your Support Team

Please read the complaint fully before responding. Obviously you didn't,  because  the response was not appropriate for the complaint.

Once again ... I can't ignore this ad because it has an audio file that is  REALLY  ANNOYING. I have already stated 3 TIMES that I understand the ad polices  and they are  just fine. THIS ONE PARTICULAR AD HAS A BUZZING SOUND THAT I CAN'T SHUT OFF  AND IT'S  LOUD AND IRRITATING. PLEASE STOP THIS AD FROM PLAYING.

I don't need instructions on how to take a screen capture. I ALREADY TOLD  YOU that I had a screen capture saved, all I needed was the email address to  send it to, since I can't send one through the website form.

READ THE FUCKING EMAIL BEFORE RESPONDING!

I do not need instructions for taking a screen capture, I have already done it AND I ATTACHED IT TO THE LAST EMAIL.

Downloading an attachment is quite easy.

Click on the .JPG link at the bottom of this email. When the window pops up asking you to open or save, click "Save". Choose a place on your harddrive you will remember where you put it. When it is done saving, you can open it and view the ad.

Well thank you for the one month free.  The point was not to get free services, I just wanted that annoying buzzing to stop every time a page loads, and I want Tech Support personnel to actually READ their customer service correspondence before responding.  Not all of your customers are technophobic idiots and it would be nice to at least pretend that when those of us who know what we're doing have to break down and call for support, that the support team knows more than we do, rather than the other way around.  It's particularly frustrating for another tech person to request help, and have that help request answered by a bot or someone who doesn't speak English and you will lose customers that way.  Maybe you don't care if you lose your free costumers.  Will the buzzing ad still be there when I get ads back next month?
