Both changing the subject and leaving their space are acceptable responses to someone saying "drop the subject, this is bothering me", regardless of what tone they use to say so. Either response is exactly what I'm asking for when I tell people to stop.
Taunting them with "or, what, you'll yell at me on the internet? Oh no, I'm so scared!" is not appropriate, and what I'm complaining about. I'm not threatening anyone, regardless of whether or not they think my tone is "appropriate", I'm stating my triggers.
