I did not have as much to work out of as you did. But I did think astrology had some merit, and I couldn't discount that genuine psychics might exist, though they would have to be rare. And learning actual critical thinking was indeed key to researching without expectations, in order to see what was real versus what I wanted to see.
The most beautiful feeling in the world is when you step away from the nonsense, and see the astonishing intricacy and interdependence of the universe for what it is. Being at once insignificant and yet aware, unique, and seeking to understand... Yeah. That is real freedom.
