Even after explaining that the club had no dress code, I have seen FAR more newbies who were too uncomfortable to attend a club or public dungeon until they felt properly attired, than newbies who refused to attend because they couldn't put together a pair of black jeans and a black t-shirt. Feeling as though one is attired according to the social context is a very important element in reducing nervousness in a new situation.

Don't insult the intelligence of the newbies reading this. If you can figure out that "don't spend a lot of money" and "hold off on buying fetish gear for a while" means "don't spend a lot of money" and "hold off on buying fetish gear for a while", then they can too.
