A lot of the safety systems in venues are installed with out ever discussing it with the riggers who have to use them. So they get in our way or are in area we never use. One venue here has a safety wire on every upstage to downstage beam. but only on every 5th cross stage beam. With the beams being 10 feet apart. That is 25 feet extra i have to travel. It does not sound like much to people that do not have to work in that area. another venue put in a cross stage lifeline in the most difficult place in the venue to move around. With no safety in the most convenient place to move cross stage. Guess which place we move across stage. Another venue has the lifelines raised at the catwalks so people walking on the catwalk (in complete safety with hand rails) do not have to duck or risk walking into it. So the riggers walking the beams can not reach the lifeline when near the catwalks. So we just unhook from it. Another venue just had a lifeline system installed this year. Where are all of the lifelines placed. At waist level. We used to be able to walk around now we have to craw. This all in just one city.
