It is a sobering thing to rationally contemplate all the risks you manage.
I had a bit of that experience when I motorcycled everywhere for a bit. Before my morning commute to work was over, I imagined, anticipated, and avoided thousands of horrible, maiming accidents.
I still motorcycle (on a scooter!), and I enjoy the process managing risks.
Anytime I see someone competently and soberly managing risks like that, or in other environments, like yours...I get a "Brains-are-amazing" fuzzy.
