Surprising Inspiration

I just recieved the disc "Fraggle Rock:  Doin' The Things That Doozers Do" from Netflix.  I have it on in the background.  This particular episode was about making exclusive clubs.  Even Doc, the human, and his dog made a club.  I think it started out being the dog's club, then Doc sort of took over and micromanged, and eventually the dog kicked him out.   I just happened to look up as Doc said:

"It just goes to show that if you try to control something too much, you soon end up with nothing to control!  We should include members, not exclude them!"

Whoda thunk ... rules to live by from Fraggle Rock!

Actually, words to live by is kind of Fraggle Rock's whole shtick. Jim Henson was a god. When I was 18 and a freshman in college, I was watching an episode of Sesame Street, because that's the kind of dork I am, in which Elmo kept popping his head on screen and yelling "No! No no no no no!" then disappearing again. The other characters on Sesame Street were concerned that something was wrong. Finally, Susan cornered Elmo and asked him what was the matter. Elmo explained, "Maria told Elmo that it's very important to be able to say no to people, so Elmo has been practicing." And I thought, yep, 18 years old and still learning stuff from Sesame Street.
