Interesting. I have a number of friends who've done this, and I've thought of doing it myself. It's a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I should do more research, but my guess is that there's only a 5-10% chance of coming back. Of course, that's infinitely more of a chance than if you weren't suspended.

One thing that distresses me slightly, and I'd want to see how fast Alcor got on top of it with their procedures, it's the return of oxygen that does the brain the most damage. Cells go into a weird low-oxygen mode when they're starved of oxygen, and in that mode, lots of oxygen will kill them. You have to induce them to switch out of it first.

It sounds like Alcor's procedures were based on the idea that it's the lack of oxygen that's the problem. The news that this isn't exactly the case is very new, and I would be curious if they've incorporated it yet.
