Yeah, telling me that someone considers me worthy of sexual appreciation is TOTALLY the wrong thing to say in these situations, even when the person speaking is someone that I might actually want to be thought of sexually by.

Like, dude, I'm not talking about sex and I don't need to know that you're thinking of whether or not I'm worthy of being fucked by you. Perhaps, when they don't understand this, I ought to start responding with something like "well, thanks for telling me that you think I'm fuckable. Since you think it's appropriate information to share, I just thought I'd let you know that I don't want to fuck you."
