I didn't mean to imply that you had lived in the same town, state, or country. I simply meant that my experience was different, and was offering a possible reason.

I am not insisting that you're guiding people to spend money. Your intentions are not what I am discussing.

I was simply trying to offer clarity of language on points that I could see being misconstrued by new people (namely, new people in TNG, where I am, or new people, not being introduced to the scene by an experienced friend or partner, where I am.)

I did not miss the points in your post where you said what you've quoted multiple times. I comprehended the points in your post. I merely believe that if a new person reads: "wear what you have" and "wear all black/red/silver/purple", and those two statements are in conflict (namely, they do not already own enough to wear all black/red/silver/purple) that they may feel like they cannot attend until they do.
