I do HEAR what you are saying.. ANd I believe that people who are KNOWINGLY fraudulent are teh Slimevil.. and that those that are just ignorant enough to believe in their own Kool-Aid are kinda sad and stupid.
And yet! The regular placebo effect procedures are NOT available to everyone.. either because they lack the tools to go find it for themselves.. or because in that having someone help you do it by spending time and attention on you allows them to relax enough to let the 'treatment' be real to them.
I'm not talking of the folks willing to sell you tiger penis and skin you for your savings.. but the masseur who listens to your woes and listens to the tension in your body under their hands and advocates ear candles.. or the doula who teaches meditation skills but still kinda believes there is a mystical healing component part to it.. they don't bother me so much?
